In visual arts, texture is the perceived surface quality of an artwork. It is an element of two-dimensional and three-dimensional design and is broadly distinguished by its perceived visual and physical properties. Use of texture, along with other elements of design, can convey a variety of messages and emotions. ~ Gracias Wikipedia <3
Here’s a good video tutorial I found on YouTube by Matt Nicolosi: Photoshop Texture Layering Tutorial on how to use texture to enhance your photography. You don’t really need to use 3 layers of texture on your photo, I usually use just one and I end up with a pretty good result. It all depends on the individual taste and what kind of look you wish to achieve, so take a look…
I’ve put up a collection of some really good textures off flickr to try on. Please note that these files are under the creative commons license, so please visit the texture’s page and read the owner’s requirements for using their work first. Let’s all be one big happy family =)

Awesome tutorial. Very useful. Thank you very much.
youre most welcome Jesus
LOVE you tip about using the healing brush to remove texture. That was new to me and very cleaver.
p.s. I just checked out the textures on flicker. I think you’re crazy for giving them away; however with that said… thank you very much for doing so.. they’re great textures and I’m going to make great use of them. I’ll be sure to drop a line with some sample art work that incorporate them.
hey Gene,
I’m glad you benefited from the video. regarding your comment about the texture, well i did not give anything away. theyre not mine to give anyway, i just shared them with you guys and they are licensed as creative commons so the original authors dont mind you using them (according to stated privileges of course) =)
Ahhhhh I see,, well in any case here’s a new piece I made last night using about five of the textures you provided.
