Conceptual self portrait photography from Kalliope Amorphous

Kalliope Amorphous works with conceptual self portraiture. She does not define herself as a photographer, but rather as an artist using the camera as another tool to create. Kalliope is continually drawn to concepts involving the subconscious, alienation, isolation, time, memory and transcendence. She is able to more deeply explore her conceptual visions by embracing the roles of both photographer and subject. She is preoccupied with all things nostalgic, wistful and longing.

Kalliope views photography as visual poetry, finding a powerful link between the written word and the wordless image. The still image is without words, yet is capable of equally as much poetry.

  1. Wow! This is some pretty heavy stuff. Very conceptual indeed!

  2. These are impressive. It’s becoming more rare to see photography that really spurs an emotion. These are very emotional. Good work.

  3. Too scary for me, but still very very nice!

  4. … breathtakingly intriguing !

  5. Stunning monochromes :)

  6. Kalliope I remember you from MyArtSpace!! I loved your work then and even more now. Bravo!

  7. I love these portraits not only for their technical skill in execution, but the beautiful treatment if the images. So dark and mysterious. Conceptually amazing! I can imagine these printed large onto fibre based paper; they have that quality. I cannot imagine how some of them were done but I applaud you! Love Train
