Around a week ago I’ve launched a brand new design for The D-Photo. The main reason behind it was to provide a better experience for all of us, a minimal clean yet attractive layout with as very little loading time as possible.
The launch went smooth. Everyone seems to like the new look and feel of the site. Photos stand out better. I’ve cut down on all the graphics that were adding to the page load time. If any of you guys is experiencing any problems or facing any inconvenience of any sort, or if someone out there has any suggestions or requests regarding the functionality of the site that they think will enhance our experience here, please do not hesitate to notify me. My email address as you all probably know by now is diana@thedphoto.com. You can also reach me through the contact page on this site right here.
With all that out of the way, let’s get to the good news. Along with the new design, I’ve been working on a new, more pleasing logo for the site. I didn’t wanna change the logo at once with the layout so as not to confuse you any more than I needed to.
I’ve always had a thing for those classic, vintage looking round logos and so I decided to follow my instinct and design one that I liked! So without further ado, here’s the brand new The D-Photo official logo!

I really hope you guys like it. It’ll be officially up on the site replacing the old one within a couple days. Let me hear what you think. Do you like it? Do you have something else in mind? As always, I’m all ears! It would be great to hear your thoughts =)
Technically, you didn’t fully ‘follow your instinct’ seeing as you simply did the tutorial from Blog.Spoongraphics: http://www.blog.spoongraphics.co.uk/tutorials/how-to-create-a-retro-badgeemblem-style-logo. But it came out nicely! I would just cite him if I were you.
well yeah Blake I’m no graphic designer =) I’ve been looking for a tutorial on how to do this for weeks and suddenly spoongraphic’s post came out and it had everything i wanted so i took it!
dont be mad :p hey guys this logo i made is based on Chris Spooner’s “How To Create a Retro Badge/Emblem Style Logo” amazing post right here:

In my opinion, memories in the raw shouldn’t be upside down!
you think so?
Yeah. Me too, i go with Yousif
I like it. I personally prefer the text remains as is. this way it’s a continuation to the site’s name. Dunno know, it’s just how I feel. I might be wrong!
OK. let’s see:
1. who thinks “Memories in the raw” should be upside down?
2. who thinks “Memories in the raw” shouldn’t be upside down?
3. who has any other notes, or thinks the logo should be changed all together?
let us hear it!
It’s classic and classy. I like it
Overall, I like it very much.
I think the upside down wording gets a persons attention – made me stop and read what it said. But after much waffling, for me anyway, in the end I think it’s a bit awkward to read.
*I ain’t no graphic designer, just a consumer.
Definitely upside down …
Awww, I actually really liked the red one! Why did you decide to change it? You could just add “memories in the raw” under D-Photo”…
